Finally it is here. The Explorer's Guide to Fey Earth is a 256 page core rulebook for the Fey Earth ttrpg. This unique game is set in an alternate 19th century world where all the creatures from folklore and fairytale are real and have always lived alongside humanity. The setting focuses on fey creatures from Western Europe but we hope to expand this over time to other regions.
The creatures in this setting will sound very familiar but have powers that are far greater than you might be used if you have come across creatures with the same names in other ttrpg systems. This is because Fey Earth has tried to be as accurate and faithful to the original folklore in it's depiction of the Fey as possible. It uses a very simple D20 system with very straightforward mechanics that a beginner can pick up very quickly especially if you have played other D20 systems like Pathfinder or DnD.
This rulebook includes all the mechanics for the system as well as class description to 10th level. It also includes stat blocks for approximately 30 fey creatures that appear in the game as well as a short adventure for 1st or 2nd level characters. While this is not the complete game it includes everything you need to be able to create a character and run your own campaign. It is being offered as a pay what you want product so people will have the opportunity to explore this game and the mechanics of it's system. Is it my imagination, or is ability score generation method 2 massively overpowered? Method 3 gives you seven points to distribute amongst eight ability scores. Method 2 gives you a bare minimum of 8 points and a maximum of 32 points.
It is slightly unbalanced but not terribly so. I'm gonna be amending this method for the final version of the game. However the chance of having eight abilty scores with a score of 4 in each is 1 in 65,536 so I'm not too worried
